Tableware Enquiry Handover: Keep Open Questions Visible When Contacts Change

Hand over the current tableware brief, the basis of confirmed points and a clear list of open questions when the enquiry contact changes.

A tableware enquiry can continue while the person handling it changes. The new contact needs more than a folder of messages: they need to know which brief is current, which points have been confirmed and which questions are still open. A concise handover can make those distinctions visible without inventing answers to complete the record.

Begin with the enquiry reference and the current brief version. Identify the product references being discussed, the latest exchange and the people who need to remain involved. Keep background material distinguishable from current instructions. A document attached early in the conversation may still be useful, but its presence does not establish that every detail remains current.

List open questions beside the message or document they concern. State who was asked, what response has actually arrived and what remains unanswered. A general explanation should retain its original scope. Do not turn a request for a change into an accepted revision simply because the previous contact included it in a summary.

For confirmed points, retain the relevant reply and describe exactly what it covers. An answer about one piece should not silently extend to an entire collection. If the basis of a statement cannot be found, label it for further checking rather than presenting a remembered conversation as a complete specification.

Ask the incoming contact to identify anything they cannot locate or understand. Agree who will send the next enquiry and which reference will be used. Share only the project information needed for the handover, keeping unrelated personal or internal material outside the exchange. This is a communication arrangement, not confirmation of product suitability or order acceptance.

After the handover, preserve the dated summary and direct later answers back to its open questions. When a decision or brief changes, mark the update clearly. Keeping an unanswered item visible is often more useful than writing a confident conclusion that the available correspondence does not support.
